Subject: Sky Rashby Memorial Fund
Hi All,
We remember Sky Rashby for his endless energy as a scientist, his care for world issues as well as the people around him, and we remember him for his big hair and contagious laugh. In honor of Sky's life and work, the GPS division established a memorial fund devoted to causes and values he supported passionately. The Sky Rashby Memorial Fund will be used to further the efforts of members of the Caltech community in support of environmental awareness, scientific outreach and activism. We hope this fellowship and our community effort to build it will be both an opportunity to conceive new ideas on issues that extend beyond academic life and a greater recognition of the role Sky played in our lives. The division, with the consultation of representatives of the GPS students and postdocs, the Geobiology faculty and Sky's family will select proposals to support throughout the year. Further discussion of the Sky Rashby Memorial Fund and its purpose is available at the GPS website along with information on how to contribute.
Please also take this as an opportunity to share with our community what Sky meant to you and how we all might best remind ourselves of what he gave us.
